இன்றைய பழமொழி  

பொங்கின பால் போயப்பால்.

Boiling milk is always deceptive.

Explanation:

When milk boils, it raises and looks foamy and it occupies the whole container. But the actual volume after it cools down is really less.

குறளும் பொருளும் – 1326

காமத்துப்பால் – கற்பியல் – ஊடலுவகை

உணலினும் உண்டது அறல்இனிது காமம்

புணர்தலின் ஊடல் இனிது.

Translation:

Tis sweeter to digest your food than 'tis to eat;

In love, than union's self is anger feigned more sweet.

பொருள்:

உணவு அருந்துவதைவிட, அருந்திய உணவு செரிப்பதிலே ஒரு சுகம். அதைப்போல் உடலுறவைவிட ஊடல் கொள்வதிலேயே காதலர்க்கு ஒரு சுகம்.

Explanation:

To digest what has been eaten is more delightful than to eat more; likewise love is more delightful in dislike than intercourse.

பறக்கும் மீன்கள்

·         சுமார் 500 மில்லியன் ஆண்டுகளுக்கு முன்பே தோன்றின என்று அறிவியல் அறிஞர்கள் கூறுகின்றனர்.

·         பறக்கும் மீனினம் தங்களை இரையாக்கி கொள்ள வரும் மற்ற கடல் உயிரினங்களில் இருந்து தப்பிக்க, பறக்கும் திறன் பெற்றிருக்காலாம் என்று கருதப்படுகிறது.

·         பிளாங்டன் உள்ளிட்ட மீன்கள் உணவுக்காக பறக்கும்.

·         ஒரு மணி நேரத்திற்கு 37 மைல் (60 கிலோமீட்டர்) பறக்கிறது. வேகமாகச் செல்ல நினைக்கையில், நீரினுள் இருக்கும் போதே பறப்பதற்கு முன் ஓடுதளத்தில், ஓடும் விமானம் போல் வேகமெடுத்து, நீரின் மேற்பறப்பை நோக்கி நீந்தி வந்து, நீர்பரப்பை அடைந்ததும் தன் பக்கத்துடுப்புகளை முழுவதும் விரித்துத் துள்ளித் தாவும். பெரிய விசை நீருக்கடியில் பெறுவதன் மூலம் மேல்நோக்கி நான்கு இறகு பறக்கும் மீன் மேற்பரப்பை உடைக்கிறது சில நேரங்களில் 4 அடி (1.2 மீட்டர்) அதிகமான உயரங்களை அடைந்து 655 அடி (200 மீட்டர்) வரை, நீண்ட தூரம் காற்றில் பறக்கிறது.
