1920 - Calyampudi Radhakrishna Rao was born at Hadagali in Karnataka. In 1945 he put forward the ''theory of estimation" in statistics. His formulae and therorems, for instance the "Cramer-Rao inequality", "The Fisher-Rao theorem" and "Rao-Black Wellistaion" are now part of any standard textbook of statistics. For his significant contributions, Rao received the S. S. Bhatnagar Award, the Meghnad Saha Medal and many more.

மறந்தும்கூட மற்றவர்க்குக் கேடு செய்ய நினைக்கக் கூடாது. அப்படி நினைத்தால் அவனுக்குக் கேடு உண்டாக்க அவனை அறம் முற்றுகையிட்டுவிடும்.
