இன்றைய பழமொழி
வானம் நினைத்தால் மழை
மனிதன் நினைத்தால் வினை.
Explanation:
வானம் என்றும் பழி வாங்காது. ஆனால் மனிதன் பழிவாங்கும் குணம் உடையவன். ஆவன் சக மனிதனுக்குத் தீய வினைகளைச் செய்வான். ஆனால் இயற்கைக்கு மாறாக மனிதன் செயல்பட்டாலும் அதற்குப் பதிலாக வானம் மழையைத் தருகின்றது. வானத்தின் செயலையும் மனித குணத்தின் இயல்பையும் ஒப்பிட்டுக் கூறுவதாக பழமொழி அமைகிறது.

Translation:

பெரும்பிணக்கும், சிறுபிணக்கும் ஏற்பட்டு இன்பம் தரும் காதல் வாழ்க்கை அமையாவிட்டால் அது முற்றிப் பழுத்து அழுகிய பழம் போலவும், முற்றாத இளம் பிஞ்சைப் போலவும் பயனற்றதாகவே இருக்கும்.
