939 - முதலாம் எட்மண்ட் இங்கிலாந்தின் மன்னனாக முடி சூடினான். 1275 - ஆம்ஸ்டர்டாம் நகரம் அமைக்கப்பட்டது. 1682 - பென்சில்வேனியாவின் பிலடெல்பியா நகரம் அமைக்கப்பட்டது. 1961 - நாசா தனது முதலாவது சட்டர்ன் 1 விண்கலத்தை விண்ணுக்கு ஏவியது. 1962 - ஐக்கிய அமெரிக்காவின் U-2 விமானம் ஒன்று கியூபாவில் சுட்டு வீழ்த்தப்பட்டது. 1971 - கொங்கோ மக்களாட்சிக் குடியரசு சயீர் எனப் பெயர் மாற்றம் செய்யப்பட்டது. 1991 - துருக்மெனிஸ்தான், சோவியத் ஒன்றியத்திடம் இருந்து விடுதலை அடைந்தது. பிறப்பு: 1920 - கே. ஆர். நாராயணன், இந்தியாவின் 10வது குடியரசுத் தலைவர் இறப்பு: 1605 - அக்பர், முகலாய மன்னன் (பி. 1542)
இன்றைய சிறப்பு மனிதர்கள்:
ஜலாலுதீன் முகமது அக்பர் (Jalaluddin Muhammad Akbar), அல்லது பேரரசர் அக்பர் (Akbar-e-Azam) (அக்டோபர் 15, 1542 – அக்டோபர் 12, 1605) என்பவர் 1556 முதல் 1605 வரை முகலாயப் பேரரசின் மன்னராக இருந்தவர். ஹிமாயுன் ஹமீதா பானு இவர்களுக்கு பிறந்தவர் தான் அக்பர், இவரது தந்தை மன்னர் நசிருதீன் ஹுமாயூன் இறந்ததை அடுத்து தனது 13வது அகவையில் ஆட்சிக்கு வந்தார். இவரே முகலாயப் பேரரசின் மன்னர்களுள் புகழ் பெற்றவர் எனக் கருதப்படுகிறது இவர் இயற்பெயர் ஜலாலுதீன். அக்பர். இவரது ஆட்சிக் காலத்தில் ஆப்கானிய மன்னர் ஷேர் ஷா சூரியின் வழித்தோன்றல்களின் இராணுவத் தாக்குதல்களை முறியடித்தார். முகலாயப் பேரரசுப் படைகள் இந்தியாவின் சூர் பேரரசின் தளபதி ஹேமு என்பவனின் படைகளை பானிபாட் என்ற இடத்தில் இடம்பெற்ற சமரில் 1556 இல் தோற்கடித்தன.   கே. ஆர். நாராயணன் என்று அறியப்படும் கொச்செரில் ராமன் நாராயணன் (பிறப்பு - கோட்டயத்தில் உள்ள உழவூர் (கேரளா), பிப்ரவரி 4, 1921; இறப்பு - புது தில்லி, நவம்பர் 9, 2005) பத்தாவது இந்தியக் குடியரசுத் தலைவர் ஆவார். இவர் இப்பொறுப்பை வகித்த ஒரே தலித்தும் மலையாளியும் ஆவார்.

1924 - இந்தியாவில் சுபாஷ் சந்திர போஸ் பிரித்தானியரால் சிறைப்பிடிக்கப்பட்டார். 1971 - ஐநாவிலிருந்து சீனக் குடியரசு வெளியேற்றப்பட்டு மக்கள் சீன குடியரசு ஏற்றுக்கொள்ளப்பட்டது. 2001 - விண்டோஸ் எக்ஸ்பி வெளியிடப்பட்டது. 2001 - இந்தியாவில் தடா சட்டத்துக்கு பதிலாக POTO என்ற புதிய பயங்கரவாத தடுப்பு சட்டத்தை மத்திய அரசு கொண்டு வந்தது. 2007 - சிங்கப்பூர் ஏர்லைன்ஸ் நிறுவனத்தின் முதலாவது இரட்டை அடுக்கு விமானம் ஏர்பஸ் ஏ380 தனது முதலாவது சேவையை சிட்னிக்கு ஆரம்பிக்கிறது. பிறப்பு 1881 - பாப்லோ பிக்காசோ, ஸ்பானிய ஓவியர், சிற்பி (இ. 1973)
