Today in Indian History:

1949 - Raja of Tehri Garhwal announces merger with Indian Union.

1969 - Indian Government nationalised 14 major commercial banks of India by Presidental ordinance.

1974 - Udham Singh's, revolutionary, ashes brought to Delhi from London.

1990 - Planning Commission decides to make changes in the Gadgil formula for central assistance to States in consultation with states.

1994 - The Tamil Nadu Bill for continuance of the 69% reservation policy in the state receives the President's assent.

1998 - The INSAT-2C satellite suffers ``disorientation'' - loss of earth lock - briefly.

Meaning

மயக்கம் தெளிந்து மாசற்ற உண்மையை உணர்ந்தால் அறியாமை அகன்று நலம் தோன்றும்.

A clear, undimmed vision of things will deliver its possessors from the darkness of future births, and confer the felicity (of heaven).

காலம் கடமை கருதி செய்யின் ஞானப்புகழ் நிச்சயம்.
