1.2.11. பிறனில் விழையாமை (Against Coveting Another's Wife)

142. அறன்கடை நின்றாருள் எல்லாம் பிறன்கடை
நின்றரின் பேதையார் இல்.
No fools, of all that stand from virtue's pale shut out,Like those who longing lurk their neighbour's gate without.

Meaning :
பிறன் மனைவியை அடைவதற்கு துணிந்தவர்கள் அறவழியை விடுவித்து தீயவழியில் செல்லும் கடைநிலை மனிதர்களைக் காட்டிலும் கீழானவர்கள்.
Among all those who stand on the outside of virtue, there are no greater fools than those who stand outside their neighbour's door.
