Meaning

இயல்பாகவே எழும் அடங்காத பேராசையை அகற்றி வாழும் நிலை, நீங்காத  இன்பத்தை இயல்பாகவே தரக்கூடியதாலும். 

The removal of desire, whose nature it is never to be satisfied, will immediately confer a nature that can never be changed.

கூத்தாடி  கிழக்கே பார்த்தான் , கூலிக்காரன்  மேற்கே பார்த்தான்.

The dancer watched the east, the labourer watched the west.

Meaning:

The dancers perform all night long in festivals and wait for the sunrise (east) so that their payments will be made and can return home.  The labourers work all day long and see the west all the time since he would get his pay only at the sunset. The whole world works in the direction of money.

Meaning

பெருந்துன்பம் தரக்கூடிய பேராசை ஒழிந்தால்  வாழ்வில் இன்பம் விடாமல்  தொடரும். 

Even while in this body, joy will never depart (from the mind, in which) desire, that sorrow of sorrows, has been destroyed.

Meaning

ஆசை இல்லாதவர்களுக்குத் துன்பம் இல்லை. ஆசை உண்டானால், அதைத் தொடர்ந்து துன்பமும்  மேலும் மேலும் வந்து கொண்டிருக்கும். 

There is no sorrow to those who are without desire; but where that is, (sorrow) will incessantly come, more and more.

Meaning

ஒருவரை வஞ்சித்துக் கெடுப்பதற்குக் காரணமாக இருப்பது ஆசையேயாகும். எனவே ஆசைக்கு அடிமையாகக் கூடாது என்ற அச்சத்துடன் வாழ வேண்டும்.

It is the chief duty of (an ascetic) to watch against desire with (jealous) fear; for it has power to deceive (and destroy) him..
