இன்றைய பழமொழி  

சட்டியில் இருந்தாற்றான் அகப்பையில் வரும்.

Explanation:

சட்டியில் இருந்தால் அகப்பையில் வரும் என்பது பழமொழி. சஷ்டி திதியைத்தான் தூயத் தமிழில் சட்டி திதி என்று சொல்வார்கள். இந்த சட்டி திதியில் விரதங்கள் இருந்தால் குழந்தை பாக்கியம் உறுதியாகக் கிடைக்கும். அகப்பை என்பது உள்ளிருக்கும் கர்ப்பப்பையைக் குறிக்கிறது. அந்தத் திதியில் விரதம் இருந்தால் அகத்தில் இருக்கும் கருப்பை கருத்தரிக்கும் என்பது அர்த்தம். அதனால்தான் சட்டியில் இருந்தால் அகப்பையில் வரும் என்று முன்னோர்கள் சொல்லிவைத்தார்கள்..

தனியே இருந்து நினைத்தக்கால் என்னைத்

Translation:

பொருள்:

காதலர் பிரிவைத் தனியே இருந்து நினைத்தபோது என் நெஞ்சம் என்னைத் தின்பது போலக் கொடுமையாக இருந்தது.

Explanation:

My mind has been (here) in order to eat me up (as it were) whenever I think of him in my solitude.
